How To Link Your Blog Post To Twitter and Facebook

Lynn over at "Call Sign:The Wrecking Crew" (a great title btw :))
Asked a question based on post I posted on the Amazon Kindle Author Forum which is "How to link your blog, Facebook and Twitter together so that when you post to your blog it updates Facebook and Twitter?"
This is important to do because this makes it easier for you to post to your readers and potential readers what you're up to.
There are two basic paths I recommend.
If you already have a blog
  • The simplest option is to use TwitterFeed but I'll keep Ping.fm option below if you like options :).
  • Sign up at ping.fm - it's a free service that will send out updates to all sorts of services.
  • At ping.fm - add more networks for each service you want to post to. It supports dozens - there really is a lot of things you can post :).
  • Under Services/Tools - click RSS Feeds. Then add the URL to the RSS feed from your blog. That is usually found at the bottom of your blog homepage - might Say something like Post/RSS/ATOM feed. ATOM is the official standard form of RSS (I have to know stuff like this for my day job:)) but for our purposes it's the same.
If you don't yet have a blog
If you do not yet have a blog and don't care about having ads - then what I recommend setting up is Posterous.
Posterous is another free blog hosting service that makes it real easy to post once and send to lots of other platforms as well as to a blog on posterous.com. And you even post to your blog very easily via email.
While most blog platforms now let you do that - posterous is still the easiest.
